FarmCloud at Next Bite 2025: Building the Digital Backbone for Net-Zero Agrifood

We were delighted to join Next Bite 2025 (EIT Food) to share how FarmCloud helps create sustainable, net-zero supply chains through multi-actor collaboration across the agrifood value chain. Our talk focused on breaking data silos and enabling trusted, data-driven decisions from farm to fork.

What we presented

  • Sustainable supply chains: end-to-end traceability, MRV, water/carbon footprints, and Scope 1 & 3 reporting that turn compliance into operational value.
  • Net-zero production: decision support that optimizes inputs, reduces waste, and accelerates decarbonization without sacrificing profitability.
  • Collaboration by design: connecting farmers, advisors, input suppliers, processors, retailers, and auditors through interoperable apps and APIs—integrating with SAP, Salesforce, and Dynamics.
  • Deployment flexibility: SaaS, BYOC, and Private Cloud to meet sovereignty, security, and integration requirements.

Q&A highlight: "How do you standardize data from different sensors?"

Great question. FarmCloud includes an intermediary data layer that harmonizes payloads and metadata across vendors and devices (IoT sensors, machinery, satellites). In the FoodPASS research project we developed a Common Agriculture Data Model (CADM), which lets us map heterogeneous sources quickly and keep integrations future-proof as new devices enter the market.

Why net-zero production matters?

Moving to net-zero isn’t just about regulation—it’s about resilience and margin:

  • Lower energy and input use, less waste, and more stable yields.
  • Reduced exposure to carbon pricing and supply-chain risk.
  • Stronger brand trust and market access through transparent, verifiable reporting.
